Our Community Resource Closet is located inside Thompson Counseling.

It is available to all individuals who need assistance with essential items- you do not need to be a client of Thompson Counseling to access.

How it works

Our Community Resource Closet is filled through donations received from amazing, kind-hearted individuals looking to pay it forward. We truly are so very grateful for all donations we receive, and could not support our community the way that we do, without them.

Our mission is to be able to provide essential items to as many families that we can. At this time, we are unable to provide consistent and ongoing items to individuals or provide bulk/large quantity requests, but we do our best to fulfill each request that comes in, with what we have..

If you,, or someone you know, are in need of urgent essential items, please fill out our form below.

To donate items, simply drop them off at our office during business hours. If we are in session, items can be left on our white table.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our mission & helping serve our community.

Our Why

As mental health professionals, we recognize the fundamental importance of an individuals basic needs being met before the work in therapy can be effective.

Food. Water. Shelter. Clothing. Sleep.

In our current day, the cost of living is expensive. These essential items for children & families are exponentially higher than they used to be.

Research shows that financial stress & the inability to provide basic needs for their families is a significant contributing variable to the mental health of caregivers.

As a group private practice, we do not accept insurance. We fully understand the barrier this creates for individuals that can’t pay out-of-pocket to access adequate mental health care. Though we have tried to reduce this barrier with free/discounted individual & group therapy offered by our intern, we acknowledge there is a limit to this assistance.

Our Resource Closet is a passion project we created to help meet the needs of our community on a larger level. Individuals do not have to be current, past, or future clients of Thompson Counseling. Our intent is simply to be able to provide essential items to those in need.

If handing out a pack of diapers & wipes is the only time we see someone, but we’re able to help reduce stress for them & their family - our closet is doing it’s job.
